New Hope for Girls
Before the Forever Home
In a rented four-bedroom house in Dar es Salaam, more than 60 people live as one family. Consoler and Eliya Wilbert have fostered over 60 girls through New Hope for Girls, girls who would otherwise have been at risk of child marriage or indentured servitude. Here they find safety, education, and sisters for life.
I was commissioned to document this home and the girls who fill it, and how they navigate daily life in a house they have long outgrown, before the family moves into its Forever Home. Space is scarce. But they make it work.
These photographs hold a chapter that is about to close. The girls are learning to dream again, and the next home will give that dream room to grow.
